Prairie People is an Indigenous-owned cultural enterprise rooted in the prairie lands of Moh’kins’tsis (Calgary, Alberta). Founded and led by Jani K. Red Gun of the Siksika Nation, part of the Blackfoot Confederacy, Prairie People exists to share living knowledge, land-based experience, and authentic Indigenous craftsmanship.Through hands-on classes, immersive tourism experiences, and carefully curated Indigenous arts, crafts, and raw materials, Prairie People offers meaningful engagement with culture as it is practiced today, grounded in tradition, guided by responsibility, and shaped for contemporary understanding.

About Us

Prairie People was founded by Jani K. Red Gun as a family-run initiative grounded in lived Blackfoot culture and land-based knowledge. Raised within the culture and fluent in the Blackfoot language, Jani carries teachings that come from practice, responsibility, and direct connection to land.The work of Prairie People blends old Blackfoot ways with modern tools and technology, ensuring that knowledge remains relevant, accessible, and responsibly shared in today’s world.
